Visit in Norway, SIFA Erasmus+ Project, Health

8-14.02.2015

Sunday, 8th February, 2015

On Sunday we got up very early. We went to Warsaw by car. As you know in Poland it’s cold now, but in Norway it’s sometimes very freezing. When we arrived we needed to take a bus because we had another flight from Oslo. Finally, we arrived in Bergen. It’s the second biggest city in Norway. Some of us had to take a bus to go to Os. But some host families picked us up from the airport as well. So I went with my hosts to their house. The ‘trip’ wasn’t so long. They don’t live in the center so this district is very quiet. We had supper together and I told my host family about Poland. We spent that evening in a very interesting way.

Monday, 9th February 2015

The first day in Norway was… intensive. After breakfast in our host families, we were in school (in the red cross building exactly) at about 8.40. School here always starts this time. At the beginning, we had the ‘get to know’ activities. We built towers with spaghetti and marshmallows and we made international groups with people around us. For example a group of people, who like the same animals or whose birthday is in the same month. We also had a presentation of results from the special questionnaire for Norway – the same which we completed in our school. After lunch, we had workshops in teams. Each person was from another country. We had to make a film or a photo story connected with the topics which we had been given. My group said that we had to know each other to start the project so on Monday. We were talking about muscles in fingers and schools in different countries… At 14 o’clock there was a lecture about how huge influence of computer addiction is on obesity, depression etc. At 18 o’clock we watched a really good movie – ‘Her’. That was about a man who was in love with a very intelligent and emotional OS (operating system). We spent the rest of the day with our host families’ houses. (e.g. I watched a film with my host Mariell, her boyfriend and my flatmate – a girl from Sweden).

Tuesday, 12th February 2015

On Tuesday morning everyone met in front of The Red Cross building in which we had workshops. We were working in groups writing scripts and thinking about the statistics connected with the problems we had to present. At 10:15 when the workshops ended we went to school and the teachers and students from Norway gave us a guided tour there. Here we saw the differences between the curriculum in Poland and Norway. When the guided tour of the school ended we went to the cafeteria and ate lunch. After that we had almost an hour for workshops in groups. Then Safe Internet Day started, still in the cafeteria, but students from Norway joined us. We made groups of six and worked for an hour, we discussed problems connected with the Internet. After that we presented the results of our work and some students took part in a mountain hike. The name of the mountain was Liafjella and it was so uphill that everyone (except Szymon) fell down at least once. Fortunately it was the last challenge that day, so after we got down we could go home, eat dinner and rest.

Wednesday, 11th February 2015

On Wednesday we were in Bergen, the second biggest town in Norway. At first we watched the Amalie Skram school which has its own swimming pool and gym for three classes at the same time. Students can sell second hand clothes but they need to create a company first. All the students have magnetic cards with which they can pay in school shops or pay for swimming which is half price for students. Each floor has a kitchen for students and rooms where they can learn or do homework. Some of these rooms have whiteboard tables. After visiting the school we went to a Norwegian school museum where we got a lecture about the history of the oldest school in Bergen. After the lecture we went to a funicular to Fløyen where we could see a great view of Bergen and after a short visit in a souvenir shop the Polish students except for Szymon got lost in the trolls forest. Happily they had found the right way before the funicular went down. We went for lunch to Friday's and then we went by bus to an aquarium where we saw an amazing seals show and animals in glass boxes or aquariums, some of the aquariums were open and we could touch fish there. Next, we had about 2 hours of free time. The last part of our trip around Bergen was a laser tag. Then we reached our host families by bus.

Thursday, 12th February 2015

Thursday was the day for finishing our presentations, we started at approximately 8:40 and we had to finish it by 14 o'clock. Then we visited our hosts during last lesson. After school we went to a shopping center. Late in the evening we got back home by bus.

Friday, 13th February 2015

On the last day of the workshops we presented the results of our work. We made four good, educational and a bit funny films about the influence of internet addiction on human health. After the presentations, we had lunch in the restaurant in the cultural centre Oseana. That was traditional Norwegian soup with meat, kind of sausages and vegetables. We watched the exhibition of Scandinavian paintings and sculptures. (There were the works of well-known, prominent painter – Edvard Munch, whose ‘Scream’ was sold in one of the biggest price in history). Then we got to know the way of building the traditional wooden boats. We ate pizza and pasta as and we watched the movie (in English with Norwegian subtitles, so we read subtitles of course). Our film ‘What we do in the shadow’ was a bit strange but quite amusing. When we finally discovered Norwegian night life (during a walk to the bus stop), we returned to our hosts’ houses.

Saturday, 14th February 2015

That was the last day in Norway. Me and my schoolmates had to get up quiet early. I ate breakfast and said goodbye to some members of my host family. The rest of them took me to the airport In Bergen. Then we hugged so long. We took a plane to Oslo, the capital. We spent our last day in Norway nicely, I mean we didn’t waste our free time. We went sightseeing round the capital. We were in the Opera House, we saw the modern part pf Oslo as well as the Royal Palace and Parliament Building. We took a lot of photos and we had a great time. In the hotel we didn’t sleep that night, because we had to take the bus at 03.00 am. So we were talking all night. We took the bus to the airport and came back to Poland.
